Were They Really That Young? Am I Really That Old?
These wonderful, precious, lovely children are OUR Grandchildren.
A sad time was enlivened with joys of grandchildren
running all through the house, parents and grandparents chasing them, and lots
of visiting and reacquainting happening.
Seeing my Mother’s body in the casket was hard, however when one of the Grandchildren
asked to see Great Grandmommy, this Grandpa picked up the little one and we
talked about why she was lying in the casket.
A sad time brought smiles as the little one asked:
why is she still
asleep?
why doesn’t she get up?
Is she really in Heaven?
After our brief conversation, the little one
saw something else of interest and hurried off to play, and life goes on.
We laughed and
cried, followed children, cooked out on the grill, rode in the paddleboat,
played on the playground and generally had an exciting family time prior to,
during, and after the funeral. My Mother
would have loved it! She would have
helped change diapers as she also would have been involved in the meals and
talked with every family member.
The
Grandchildren helped to keep this Grandpa from aging too quickly.
Now, I ask…am I
really this old? It has been 5
years!
Five Years!
I have lived through a cross country move, a heart attack and begin to feel the years.
The Grands have all grown older and I seem to have aged. The Grands range from third grade
down to PreK. So, Yes, I have aged. I really am that old!
Thankful? Yes!
Loving life? Yes!
Getting Older day by
day? Yes!
Enjoying
Grandchildren? Yes!
Bring it on!
