Walk down the path, go ahead feet, walk! Wait....I got here in the wrong end of a car....maybe I can leave behind the steering wheel? Run back to the car...hurry! Caleb stood next to the driver's door, afraid to touch the car. The day already had brought more than his fair share of surprises and perhaps touching the car would.....forget it, just open the door and get in...but where would I go? Just follow the road! OK, I'll drive the Caddy.... Caleb opened the door and sat in the seat, reached for the keys...uh oh.... The keys were not in the ignition and Caleb realized that he would be walking. He pulled himself out of the car for the second time. The sun was still shining and the breeze was gently blowing but Caleb felt a chill. The nightmares were catching up with him. Remembering the voice calling to him....YES, calling his name, Caleb! The rustling leaves and the voice...again..... Suddenly the woods seemed frightening...
Jesus fed 5,000 people without the issue of food prep nor delivery problems. He just fed them in His own way, then he asked to disciples to get into their boat and move to the other side of the lake while He stayed by Himself to pray. This was fairly usual for their friend to want some alone time with His Father. The disciples expected Jesus to join them, soon, using another mode of transportation. Perhaps Jesus could catch a ride on the next boat going across the lake. He could also walk around the lake, or at the extreme, swim across the lake. Jesus chose an unusual method of transport across the lake; He walked on the water. After a short and excited business meeting, the disciples voted….that walking on the water was unusual and unacceptable. Getting to know you...getting to know all about you. Life with children and grandchildren is more than a song, even if the song is from the wonderful 1951 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The King and I . Knowing someone requires time and commitment with lots of love thrown in. Getting to know a child or grandchild can be challenging and fun... and is definitely worth it. Children and Grandchildren want to be known and loved, but how does one show love? Perhaps an ice cream cone or a cup of lemonade would say "I love you" to a child. A new shirt, dress, or pair of jeans might say "I am awfully fond of you" to another child. Holding a child in your lap or a kind word might speak to another child. Each child understands love in his or her own way. In a way, love is a language and each person, each child has his or her own language that is part of his life from the beginning of life until the end of life. ...
